Blue Ridge Music Therapy was founded in 2006 and has been providing professional Music Therapy services to Central Virginia since. We have worked with individuals, children receiving Early Intervention Services, students within local school districts, and patients from Centra Health's Hospice of the Hills.

Jennifer L. Capone, HPMT, MT-BC  Owner, Director of Music Therapy
Jennifer Capone received her Bachelor of Music Therapy degree from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio in 1999. She founded the Music Therapy program and served as Director of Music Therapy at the Hazelwood Center in Louisville, Kentucky, worked as a clinical supervisor for University of Louisville students, and was chosen to serve as adjunct faculty at the University of Louisville as professor of clinical improvisation. Jennifer served as the President of the Music Therapy Association of Kentucky, a division of the Southeastern Region of the American Music Therapy Association. She is an active member of the Virginia Music Therapy Association and the American Music Therapy Association. Jennifer holds current board certification (MT-BC) with the Certification Board for Music Therapists and earned the Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy Certificate (HPMT) from the Centers for Music Therapy and End of Life Care. Jennifer has presented at numerous local and regional conferences and seminars.

Chapple Skillman, MT-BC  Staff Music Therapist
Chapple Skillman received her bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Radford University in Radford, Virginia with violin as her primary instrument of focus. She completed her six month internship in the Fairfax County, Virginia public school system working with school-aged students with special needs. Since completing her internship, she has been doing extensive work with students on the Autism spectrum, developmental delay, and who are identified as “at risk.” Chapple has also done some volunteer work with the New River Valley Women’s Resource Center working with women and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. She holds current board certification with the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT) and is a member of the American Music Therapy Association. Chapple joined Blue Ridge Music Therapy in January, 2010.
