Acoustic Ergonomics refers to the impact of environmental sound on people. Environmental sounds can be natural sounds (i.e., birds, trees, wind, etc.), man-made sounds (voice, lighting, heating/air conditioning, cars, etc.)

Clinical research indicates that every sound in your environment has a significant effect on your physical health, whether or not your ears are able to detect the sound or not. Through a process called entrainment, the body rhythms (heart rate, blood pressure, respiratory rate, etc.) will attempt to match the strongest beat in the environment. While entrainment can be used to achieve positive physiological results, unrecognized environmental sounds can cause a wide variety of problems. Acoustic Ergonomic Consultations can help detect possible concerns and provide the best possible sound environment in your home or office.

Our therapists will complete an extensive evaluation of your home or office environment to determine the types of sounds present and the potential effect these sounds will have on you. A report will be submitted to you following the evaluation.
